El sistema sec es el sistema responsable de la translocaci\u00f3n de la mayor\u00eda de prote\u00ednas que llevan un p\u00e9ptido se\u00f1al en el extremo n-terminal y que atraviesan la membrana citopl\u00e1smica en una forma extendida y con gasto de atp. Recientemente se ha descrito en cloroplastos y bacterias un sistema alternativo denominado tat (twin arginine translocation) que depende de fuerza prot\u00f3n-motriz y reconoce prote\u00ednas con un p\u00e9ptido se\u00f1al caracterizado por la presencia de la secuencia consenso s\/trrxflx en la que la doble arginina est\u00e1 presente en la mayor\u00eda de los casos y los otros residuos aparecen con una frecuencia superior al 50%. Este sistema adem\u00e1s media la exportaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas en forma plegada frecuentemente portadoras de un cofactor que se incorpora en el citoplasma.  en este trabajo se ha aislado y secuenciado la regi\u00f3n tat de rhizobium leguminosarum bv.Viciae upm791. En esta bacteria los genes tata, tatb y tatc est\u00e1n organizados en un mismo oper\u00f3n. La organizaci\u00f3n y localizaci\u00f3n gen\u00f3mica de la regi\u00f3n tat est\u00e1 muy conservada en diferentes rhizobiaceae. adem\u00e1s se ha demostrado que la expresi\u00f3n de los genes tat es constitutiva tanto en vida libre como en simbiosis con guisantes.  la construcci\u00f3n de un mutante por deleci\u00f3n parcial de tatb y tatc en r.Leguminosarum bv viciae ha permitido demostrar que el sistema tat no es esencial para el crecimiento en vida libre en medios rutinarios de esta bacteria. Sin embargo el crecimiento est\u00e1 limitado total o parcialmente en medios ricos y en medios con alta concentraci\u00f3n de sacarosa.
