Es un f\u00e1rmaco de estrecho \u00edndice terap\u00e9utico, y existen m\u00faltiples factores fisiopatol\u00f3gicos influyen en la respuesta cl\u00ednica individual al tratamiento con digoxina as\u00ed como numerosas interacciones farmacol\u00f3gicas de inter\u00e9s cl\u00ednico, que generan una elevada variabilidad tanto en la respuesta, como en las concentraciones plasm\u00e1ticas. As\u00ed, la digoxina se asocia frecuentemente a acontecimientos adversos a medicamentos que derivan en ingreso hospitalario en poblaci\u00f3n geri\u00e1trica, y se sit\u00faa entre los diez f\u00e1rmacos que m\u00e1s frecuentemente se relacionan con problemas relacionados con la medicaci\u00f3n que demandan actuaciones farmac\u00e9uticas. Sin embargo, se estima que aproximadamente la mitad de los casos de toxicidad digit\u00e1lica pueden prevenirse, lo que ofrece una oportunidad para mejorar el cuidado que reciben los pacientes, su calidad de vida y reducir el coste de la atenci\u00f3n sanitaria.  este escenario es b\u00e1sicamente el punto de partida de la hip\u00f3tesis planteada en la presente memoria de tesis doctoral cuyos objetivos son:  i,- objetivo principal: desarrollar un modelo predictivo para la identificaci\u00f3n de pacientes con riesgo de presentar toxicidad digit\u00e1lica.  ii,- objetivos secundarios:  1,- caracterizar cl\u00ednicamente las variables relacionadas con la toxicidad digit\u00e1lica y el coste asociado a la misma, a fin de determinar la relaci\u00f3n beneficio\/coste de la disponibilidad de un modelo de predicci\u00f3n de riesgo de toxicidad digit\u00e1lica.  2,- contrastar la validez como prueba diagn\u00f3stica de toxicidad digit\u00e1lica del modelo de regresi\u00f3n log\u00edstica y el basado en redes neuronales artificiales (perceptr\u00f3n multicapa).  el estudio cl\u00ednico es prospectivo, no controlado, no aleatorizado, y presenta dos fases
