Con dicho fin, se evalu\u00f3 el valor vacunal de sus ant\u00edgenos salivales y de sus ant\u00edgenos ocultos del tubo digestivo.  de los ant\u00edgenos salivales, s\u00f3lo uno de 20 kda indujo respuestas protectoras que bloquearon la alimentaci\u00f3n de la garrapata en un 70%. Sin embargo, este componente s\u00f3lo fue reconocido por una minor\u00eda de los cerdos vacunados, aun cuando se intent\u00f3 forzar su reconocimiento por diversos m\u00e9todos. El no reconocimiento por la mayor\u00eda de los animales, atribuido a su base gen\u00e9tica o a factores extr\u00ednsecos de dif\u00edcil determinaci\u00f3n, le rest\u00f3 valor como ant\u00edgeno vacunal. Otros componentes salivales de peso molecular inferior a 15 kda, que son no inmunog\u00e9nicos en condiciones naturales (previsiblemente por poseer actividades inmunomoduladoras), poseen valor protector potencial, pero la demostraci\u00f3n de esto pasa por lograr su reconocimiento por el sistema inmunitario de los cerdos, objetivo que, aunque se abord\u00f3, no pudo lograrse en esta tesis.  al contrario que con los ant\u00edgenos salivales, con ant\u00edgenos ocultos de tubo digestivo result\u00f3 posible la inducci\u00f3n de respuestas protectoras en el 100% de los animales (la menos en cerdos, conejos y ratones). Dichas respuestas ocasionaron descensos en la fecundidad de las hembras y una mortalidad media del 67% entre las formas inmaduras. La acci\u00f3n de la respueta est\u00e1 mediada por la activaci\u00f3n del complemento, por lo que las respuestas th1 son m\u00e1s eficaces que las th2. Los ant\u00edgenos inductores de esas respuestas son prote\u00ednas de membrana de la cara luminal de los enterocitos.  dichas prote\u00ednas son receptores implicados en la endocitosis de los
