El tratamiento tradicional se limita generalmente al c\u00f3mputo de la heliofan\u00eda diaria (n\u00famero de horas de sol a d\u00eda) a partir de las bandas y a la estimaci\u00f3n de la irradiaci\u00f3n mensual o anual mediante correlaciones \u00abtipo angstr\u00ed\u00b6m\u00bb. El m\u00e9todo que aqu\u00ed se desarrolla se apoya en el car\u00e1cter bimodal de la irradiancia directa y consiste en la combinaci\u00f3n de un modelo de irradiancia directa para d\u00eda claro con la informaci\u00f3n, de alta resoluci\u00f3n- sobre la distribuci\u00f3n temporal de la irradiancia directa obtenida a partir de las bandas heliogr\u00e1ficas. para la obtenci\u00f3n de esta \u00faltima informaci\u00f3n se proponen y aplican nuevos criterios basados en una clasificaci\u00f3n de los distintos tipos de marcas presentes en las bandas. Para facilitar la aplicaci\u00f3n de este m\u00e9todo, se han desarrollado y evaluado dos sistemas de tratamiento automatizado de las bandas. Adem\u00e1s, se ha validado un modelo de irradiancia directa para d\u00eda claro de estructura formal sencilla que muestra un excelente comportamiento comparado, sobre la base de un amplio conjunto de
