Se ha desarrollado y se ha aplicado al crecimiento de fisuras por fatiga una teor\u00eda general de superficies cohesivas para alcanzar este objetivo. Esta teoria se ha desarrollado para proporcionar un marco esencial que permita la simulaci\u00f3n de procesos de deterioraci\u00f3n que presentan un fuerte comportamiento localizado. Se ha llevado a cabo un estudio de la estabilidad y unicidad de la soluci\u00f3n para una amplia clase de materiales con superficies cohesivas dentro de un marco unidimensional. La implementaci\u00f3n num\u00e9rica mediante elementos finitos proporciona una herramienta precisa para simular el crecimiento de fisuras por fatiga bajo un amplio espectro de situaciones. Para evitar el c\u00e1lculo ciclo a ciclo se ha desarrollado un algoritmo de extrapolaci\u00f3n. Varias geometr\u00edas y modos de crecimiento de fisuras por fatiga han sido simulados y sus resultados comparados con sus equivalentes anal\u00edticos y experimentales. El grado de libertad de la temperatura ha sido a\u00f1adido para estudiar procesos de terioraci\u00f3n dependientes de la temperatura.
