No obstante, en la actualidad, se est\u00e1n desarrollando nuevas v\u00edas de actuaci\u00f3n relacionadas con un mayor conocimiento del papel fisiopatol\u00f3gico de la histamina y de sus receptores. la m\u00e1s novedosa surge de la caracterizaci\u00f3n del receptor h3, del estudio de sus propiedades farmacol\u00f3gicas y del desarrollo de nuevos agonistas y antagonistas selectivos de este receptor, considerado como un importante protagonista en el mecanismo regulador, tanto de numerosas funciones cerebrales, como de procesos en tejidos perif\u00e9ricos.  aunque se desconoce todav\u00eda el valor terap\u00e9utico real de los ligandos del receptor h3, existen datos precl\u00ednicos suficientes como para establecer que este receptor es una diana de utilidad para el desarrollo de f\u00e1rmacos activos sobre numerosas patolog\u00edas, como la epilepsia, el insomio, la anorexia, el v\u00e9rtigo e incluso la enfermedad de alzheimer y el parkinson.  el objetivo de esta memoria, ha sido aportar nuevos datos acerca de los requerimientos estructurales del receptor h3, mediante el dise\u00f1o, la s\u00edntesis y la evaluaci\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica de nuevos compuestos como potenciales ligandos del mismo. Las mol\u00e9culas sintetizadas poseen una estructura m\u00e1s r\u00edgida que la de los agonistas y antagonistas h3 conocidos, aproximaci\u00f3n muy frecuente en qu\u00edmica farmac\u00e9utica, pero conservan los farmac\u00f3foros comunes a ellos. Dichos derivados responden a las modificaciones estructurales introducidas en dos compuestos activos en el snc: la espinacina, un amino\u00e1cido natural hom\u00f3logo c\u00edclico de la histidina, y la ciclopropilhistamina, agonista potente y selectivo del receptor h3.  como derivados de espinacina se han sintetizado, en primer lugar, una serie de tetrahidroimidazopiridinas funcionalizadas en la
