Para cumplimentar el objetivo, se define un sistema modelo en el que se analizan variaciones de gs en las hojas 4 y 8 de plantas de tomate durante su expansion y senescencia.  definido el modelo, se persigue (y se consigue) obtener las herramientas moleculares necesarias para los estudios de expresion: anticuerpos y sondas especificas. Con tales herramientas, consigue detectar un unico gen gs2 y un unico gen gs1.
