Se estudian aquellas obras que se hicieron con una clara finalidad de denuncia o oposici\u00f3n, que tienen como uno de sus objetivos principales la cr\u00edtica a una instituci\u00f3n, a una situaci\u00f3n o un personaje concreto. Siendo una tesis entre la historia del arte y la sociolog\u00eda del arte, y a partir de un cat\u00e1logo de obras significativo, se analizan las condiciones de producci\u00f3n, difusi\u00f3n y recepci\u00f3n de las mismas. No se trata, pues, de una historia del arte cr\u00edtico entre 1500 y 1700.  nuestro principal interrogante y a ra\u00edz del cual surgi\u00f3 la investigaci\u00f3n, era si este tipo de obras, que hemos distinguido de las im\u00e1genes moralizadoras, la caricatura, la s\u00e1tira y la pintura difamatoria, exst\u00edan antes del siglo xviii. Muchos estudios han sido dedicados a analizar la funci\u00f3n cr\u00edtica del arte, como una de las funciones que las artes visuales pueden adquirir, a partir del siglo xviii, y la invectiva de artistas como hogarth, goya o daumier es conocida, apreciada, y ha sido estudiada. Igualmente, la funci\u00f3n de propaganda de las im\u00e1genes ha recibido una atenci\u00f3n amplia por parte de la historiograf\u00eda, enfoc\u00e1ndola tanto a al \u00e9poca moderna como a la contempor\u00e1nea. en cambio, en iniciar esta tesis nos encotramos con un vac\u00edo bibliogr\u00e1fico sorprendente. A medida que avanz\u00e1bamos, y a trav\u00e9s de una bibliograf\u00eda fragmentaria y mayoritariamente extranjera, enontr\u00e1bamos material para llenar este vac\u00edo y realizar la tesis doctoral. Dos estancias en londres gracias a una beca de la universitat de barcelona posibilitaron la consulta de fondos bibliogr\u00e1ficos, de grabados, pinturas y medallas en el warburg institute, la british libray y el british museum principalmente, que facilitaron el progreso de la investigaci\u00f3n.  una vez localizadas un gran n\u00famero de obras que eran el objeto de<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
