Uno de los problemas medioambientales m\u00e1s acuciantes es la creciente presencia de gases contaminantes en la atm\u00f3sfera, y la investigaci\u00f3n en este campo trata de determinar tanto las especies que son perjudiciales como las concentraciones a partir de las cuales son nocivas. Por lo que a este \u00faltimo punto se refiere, las legislaciones medioambientales son cada vez m\u00e1s restrictivas respecto a las concentraciones m\u00e1ximas permitidas, por lo que se necesitan materiales capaces de detectar concentraciones de gases contaminantes cada vez m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as. Y no tan s\u00f3lo eso sino que, adem\u00e1s, sean de coste moderado para permitir un uso particular de ellos. Es en este contexto en el que se enmarca esta tesis, que trata del estudio de nuevos materiales que permitan la detecci\u00f3n de gases nocivos como el mon\u00f3xido de carbono o el metano a bajas concentraciones y a un coste menor que los actuales materiales, permitiendo la comercializaci\u00f3n de estos detectores a escala masiva.  uno de los materiales m\u00e1s estudiado por lo que a este tipo de materiales se refiere es el sno2. Para optimizar la detecci\u00f3n de este tipo de gases por parte de este material, uno de los procesos cruciales consiste en la adici\u00f3n de peque\u00f1as cantidades de metales. Esta adici\u00f3n, y por tanto, las caracter\u00edsticas de estos materiales como detectores de gases depende del m\u00e9todo usado. En este trabajo se estudia un nuevo m\u00e9todo de adici\u00f3n de metales sobre sno2 basado en una reacci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica espont\u00e1nea que a\u00f1ade estos metales en forma de part\u00edculas nanom\u00e9tricas sobre este material, lo que constituye una caracter\u00edstica fundamental para optimizar la detecci\u00f3n de gases.
