Figura indispensable para entender el actual arte latinoamericano, desarroll\u00f3 su trabajo desde el compromiso que pocos artistas asumen de formar al espectador, y a trav\u00e9s de diferentes disciplinas como la pintura, la escultura, el ensayo, y la docencia, conform\u00f3 un legado pl\u00e1stico y te\u00f3rico de indudable valor. Especial atenci\u00f3n merece su aportaci\u00f3n en el campo pl\u00e1stico, y que centramos en este proyecto en sus pinturas murales, donde nos muestra la imagen de un artista comprometido con sus principios, formado en el clasicismo m\u00e1s puro, pero permeable a las nuevas tendencias, de las que fue al final de su vida, precursor.  los murales de torres garc\u00eda, son pues el tema principal de esta tesis doctoral. El estudio se ha planteado desde la necesaria catalogaci\u00f3n de las obras de este g\u00e9nero que llev\u00f3 a cabo a lo largo de su carrera, as\u00ed como la recreaci\u00f3n del contexto en el que fueron llevadas a cabo, con el prop\u00f3sito de establecer las condiciones evolutivas pl\u00e1sticas y de pensamiento que llevaron a torres garc\u00eda a realizar obras tan sumamente diferentes.  su catalogaci\u00f3n ha supuesto, ante la notor\u00eda falta de documentaci\u00f3n publicada, el desplazamiento a los dos lugares en donde restan las \u00fanicas intervenciones murales en pie, catalu\u00f1a, en las ciudades de terrassa y de barcelona, y de monteviejo, en uruguay. Desde el an\u00e1lisis del contexto hist\u00f3rico y los lugares originales de realizaci\u00f3n de las obras, hemos reconstruido la raz\u00f3n de ser, el proceso y las repercusiones de cada una de ellas, presentando por primera vez en su totalidad una catalogaci\u00f3n que abarca todas las fases hist\u00f3ricas y geogr\u00e1ficas que hasta el momento se hab\u00edan estudiado por separado y que
