En primer lugar se utiliza la metodolog\u00eda aza-wittig\/cierre electrociclico para la preparacion de diferentes carbazoles fusionados y piridoindoles. Los formilcarbazoles por tratamiento secuencial con azicoacetato de etilo y trifenilfosfina dan iminofosforanos, que con isocianatos proporcionan carbodiimidas, que ciclan obteniendose los piridocarbazoles. La amina carcinogenica trp-p-2 se obtiene desde el iminofosforano derivado del 2-formilindol por reaccion con acetaldehido hidrolisis y reagrupamiento de curtius modificado.  la metodolog\u00eda aza-wittig\/ciclacion intramolecular de heterocumulenos ha permitido la preparacion de alcaloides naturales derivados de aplisinoprina asi como la primera leucetamina b sintetica.  la reaccion aza-wittig tambien se ha aplicado a la sintesis de oxazoles naturales como pimprinina, anulolina y halfordinol, por tratamiento de iminofosfoforanos con cloruros de
