Dado su car\u00e1cter reflejo, presenta un alto grado de reproducibilidad, es decir, existe un alto grado de probabilidad de registrar los mismos cambios electroencefalogr\u00e1ficos cada vez que el paciente se ve confrontado con los mismos est\u00edmulos. Por este motivo, constituye un modelo de epilepsia id\u00f3neo para investigar la hip\u00f3tesis de si es posible detectar cambios en la actividad neuronal que permitan anticipar la ocurrencia de la descarga epileptiforme o respuesta fotoparox\u00edstica (rfp).  paciente y m\u00e9todos  estudiamos 10 pacientes con epilepsia fotosensible idiop\u00e1tica utilizando una t\u00e9cnica neurofisiol\u00f3gica novedosa: magnetoencefalograf\u00eda (meg), para analizar la se\u00f1al meg que precede a la rfp. Para el estudio de la se\u00f1al meg que precede a la rfp definimos un nuevo \u00edndice, el \u00edndice de agrupamiento de fase (en ingl\u00e9s, phase clustering idex o pci), que constituye una caracter\u00edstica de segundo orden del potencial evocado visual. Este \u00edndice estima c\u00f3mo se agrupa la fase en distintas frecuencias durante los sucesivos per\u00edodos de estimulaci\u00f3n previos a la rfp.  resultados  registramos un total de 86 rfp, incluyendo varias crisis de ausencias, en 9 de los 10 pacientes. Encontramos que, un aumento de sincron\u00eda de fase en la banda gamma (representada por el pci) entre 30 y 120 hz, relacionada con los arm\u00f3nicos de la frecuencia de estimulaci\u00f3n precede los episodios de estimulaci\u00f3n que, finalmente, evolucionaban en una rfp.
