Todo ello hace que en \u00faltimo t\u00e9rmino se introduzcan en el medio ambiente una gran cantidad de resiudos cuyo comportamiento en el medio natural y cuyos efectos sobre los organismos vivos se desconocen para buen n\u00famero de dichas sustancias.  esta gran generaci\u00f3n de residuos crea un importante problema que es necesario buscar soluciones adecuadas. En la ue, a trv\u00e9s de los programas de acci\u00f3n en materia de medio ambiente se busca una forma de enfocar la problem\u00e1tica del tratamiento de los residuos, estos programas se dirigen a la minimizaci\u00f3n, valorizaci\u00f3n, reutilizaci\u00f3n y reciclaje, de esta manera usar como \u00faltima alternativa el vertido. Para valorar la eficacia de los diversos tratamientos de utilizaci\u00f3n del residuo o vertido es necesario caracterizarlo, clasificarlo y estudiar su comportamiento de acuerdo a condiciones extremas.
