En la fase de crecimiento celular. En la fase s se obtiene una copia exacta de cada cromosoma, que posteriormente se repartir\u00e1n entre las c\u00e9lulas hijas durante la mitosis. la progresi\u00f3n por las distintas fases del ciclo est\u00e1 controlada por la actividad quinasa de unas prote\u00ednas denominadas cdks, que para ser activas tienen que unirse a otras prote\u00ednas llamadas ciclinas. En levaduras existe una \u00fanica cdk, denominada cdc2 en la levadura de fisi\u00f3n schizosaccharomyces pombe y cdc28 en la levadura de gemaci\u00f3n saccharomyces cerevisiae. La actividad de los complejos cdk\/ciclina oscila durante el ciclo, siendo m\u00ednima en g1 y m\u00e1xima en mitosis, descendiendo bruscamente al final de esta fase. en s.Cerevisiae, para que tenga lugar esa reducci\u00f3n de la actividad quinasa se asocia la prote\u00edna inhibidora sic1 a los complejos cdc28\/clb2 y, adem\u00e1s, se induce la degradaci\u00f3n de la ciclina clb2 mediada por el complejo apc unido al activador hct1. Ambos mecanismos, inhibici\u00f3n y degradaci\u00f3n, dependen de la funci\u00f3n de la fosfatasa cdc14. El hecho de que en s.Pombe existen hom\u00f3logos de sic1 y hct1, que son las prote\u00ednas rum1 y ste9, nos llev\u00f3 a plantearnos como objetivo de este trabajo analizar si la salida de mitosis en s.Pombe se regula de forma similar a s.Cerevisiae, mediante la identificaci\u00f3n de posibles hom\u00f3logos de cdc14 en la levadura de fisi\u00f3n.  comparando el gen cdc14 con la secuencia gen\u00f3mica de s.Pombe, encontramos un gen muy similar al que denominamos flp1+. Este gen no es esencial y su deleci\u00f3n causa una reducci\u00f3n del tama\u00f1o celular, mientras que su sobre expresi\u00f3n induce una parada del ciclo en la fase g.
