El objetivo de esta tesis fue estudiar los mecanismos de transducci\u00f3n de se\u00f1ales y de muerte celular inducidos por estos compuestos en la corteza cerebral, utilizando para ello microprismas de corteza cerebral y cultivos primarios de neuronas.  las conclusiones obtenidas con respecto al lindano fueron:  1. El lindano estimula en corteza cerebral la hidr\u00f3lisis de los fosfoinos\u00edtidos, para dar inositoles fosfato en general, e i(1,4,5)p3 en particular.  2. En dicha estimulaci\u00f3n, no participan los receptores muscar\u00ednicos del tipo m1, m3 y m5, ni los receptores a1-adren\u00e9rgicos.  3. Es posible que est\u00e9n implicados receptores o canales que favorezcan la entrada de ca2+ extracelular, hecho \u00e9ste que activar\u00eda plc y aumentar\u00eda los niveles de inositoles fosfato.  y las conclusiones obtenidas respecto a los pcb fueron:  1. Los pcb disminuyen la viabilidad celular en los cultivos primarios de neuronas, de manera tiempo- y concentraci\u00f3n-dependiente. En este sentido, aroclor 1248 es m\u00e1s citot\u00f3xico que aroclor 1260, y cb 77 lo es m\u00e1s que cb 153.  2. Dicha p\u00e9rdida de viabilidad celular es en gran parte debida a la muerte celular de tipo apopt\u00f3tico, lo que se deduce de los cambios morfol\u00f3gicos observados, de la fragmentaci\u00f3n internucleosomal del dna, de la activaci\u00f3n de caspasa-3 y de las variaciones en la raz\u00f3n bcl-2\/bax.  3. La apoptosis inducida por aroclor 1248 es de mayor intensidad que la debida a aroclor 1260, y la producida por cb 77 es m\u00e1s acusada que la que se origina por la presencia de cb 153 en el medio de cultivo.  4. De todo lo anterior, se deduce que los pcb con afinidad por ahr y con menor grado de cloraci\u00f3n son m\u00e1s citot\u00f3xicos y m\u00e1s apoptog\u00e9nicos, en nuestras condiciones experimentales.  5.
