han estudiado distintos aspectos de la toxicidad y la mutagenicidad de la acroleina en drosophila melanogaster.  se ha probado que un mecanismo de resistencia frente a la accion de la acroleina es una reduccion de la tasa metabolica y que las moscas resistentes para la acroleina lo son tambien para otros aldehidos con semejanzas estructurales.  por otra parte, utilizando el test de letales recesivos ligados al sexo se ha mostrado que mientras que la acroleina no es mutagenica cuando se suministra a traves de via oral si que presenta efectos genotoxicos cuando es inyectada.  ademas, se han obtenido evidencias que apoyan que la acroleina actua como un agente monofuncional y que las lesiones que forma se reparan mediante un mecanismo de escision.  experimentos realizados modificando el metabolismo de las moscas ponen de manifiesto que la acroleina se desactiva en el tracto digestivo conjugandose con glutation y ademas, cuando se inyecta, la acroleina puede actuar tanto como un
