Este efecto ha sido estudiado y modelado para su inclusi\u00f3n en simuladores de dispositivos.  se han considerado los tres posibles tipos de transiciones que pueden tener lugar: mediante efecto t\u00fanel directo, asistida por trampas de forma el\u00e1stica y asistidas por trampas inel\u00e1sticamente con emisi\u00f3n de fonones. Se han comparado los resultados obtenidos con medidas experimentales procedentes de la bibliograf\u00eda para comprobar la exactitud de los modelos empleados, lo cual ha permitido tambi\u00e9n extraer algunas conclusiones sobre el tipo de trampas presentes en el interior de la barrera.  por otra parte, la tecnolog\u00eda soi ha emergido como la principal alernativa para la fabricaci\u00f3n de dispositivos ulsi de dimensiones sub-micra. El uso de esta tecnolog\u00eda presenta una gran n\u00famero de ventajas, pero tambi\u00e9n hace que aparezcan nuevos efectos que deben ser tenidos en cuenta para el correcto modelado y simulaci\u00f3n de estos dispositivos.  en concreto, el hecho de tisular la l\u00e1mina de silicio entre dos capas de di\u00f3xido de silicio provoca una mayor dispersi\u00f3n culombiana.
