Siempre se hab\u00eda considerado que la prote\u00edna lga estaba \u00fanicamente presente en mitocondrias de h\u00edgado, mientras que era la glutaiminasa tipo k, la expresada por el resto de los \u00f3rganos con actividad glutaminasa. Sin embargo, en este trabajo describimos la presencia de dos isoformas de glutaminasa (kga y lga) en cerebro de diversos mam\u00edferos. Adem\u00e1s, se realiza un estudio de la distribuci\u00f3n regional, celular y subcelular de ambas prote\u00ednas en cerebro de rata y mono, mediante t\u00e9cnicas inmunocitoqu\u00edmicas, utilizando anticuerpos isoforma espec\u00edficos. La prote\u00edna lga apareci\u00f3 mayoritariamente en los n\u00facleos de las c\u00e9lulas neuronales, mientras que la localizaci\u00f3n de la glutaminasa tipo k fue mitocondrial.  los estudios realizados muestran adem\u00e1s que tanto lga como kga se encuentran mayoritariamente en c\u00e9lulas glutamat\u00e9rgicas, aunque tambi\u00e9n son expresadas por neuronas de naturaleza gaba\u00e9rgica. Existe una alta correlaci\u00f3n entre lga y kga tanto a nivel del mrna como de prote\u00edna, de hecho, existen multitud de c\u00e9lulas que coexpresan ambas isoformas de glutaminasa.  mediante el sistema del doble h\u00edbrido en levaduras, aislamos una nueva prote\u00edna, denominada gip (glutaminase interacting protein), que interacciona con lga pero no con kga. Se realiz\u00f3 un estudio de la distribuci\u00f3n regional, celular y subcelular de esta prote\u00edna, que contiene un dominado pdz, en cerebro de rata y mono, revel\u00e1ndose una localizaci\u00f3n tanto mitocondrial como no mitocondrial, expres\u00e1ndose mayoritariamente en astrocitos. La capacidad de lga de interaccionar con prote\u00ednas que contengan dominios pdz, no necesariamente la gip, podr\u00eda estar relacionada con la localizaci\u00f3n subcelular diferencial de ambas
