La manera m\u00e1s prometedora a la hora de determinar estos dos par\u00e1metros es a trav\u00e9s de las transiciones de neutrinos electr\u00f3nicos a neutrinos mu\u00f3nicos y de los canales correspondientes a las antipart\u00edculas de signo contrario, detectando muones de signo contrario al que se esperar\u00eda en ausencia de oscilaciones. La energ\u00eda y la distancia de detecci\u00f3n se hallan entralazadas en las oscilaciones en materia del neutrino. Es imprescindible el entender c\u00f3mo dependen de la energ\u00eda de los muones que decaen y de la distancia correspondiente a la localizaci\u00f3n del detactor los par\u00e1metros que se pretenden determinar.  explorando el rango posible de los par\u00e1metros desconocidos, se han encontrado soluciones degeneradas, (a una energ\u00eda y distancia fija, e incluyendo backgrounds y eficiencias), es decir, valores de dichos par\u00e1metros que conducen al mismo valor de las probabilidades que ciertos valores elegidos por la naturaleza.  los dos experimentos considerados son dos pasos sucesivos hacia los mismos objetivos f\u00edsicos, no dos opciones alternativas.
