se analizan las causas que provocan la sucesi\u00f3n en la alta direcci\u00f3n de la empresa, las consecuencias que \u00e9sta puede provocar y los factores que pueden influir en la determinaci\u00f3n del origen del sucesor.  para ello, despu\u00e9s de realizar una revisi\u00f3n te\u00f3rica sobre los trabajos hechos hasta el momento, proponemos un modelo te\u00f3rico de sucesi\u00f3n en la alta direcci\u00f3n que contrastamos emp\u00edricamente mediante la realizaci\u00f3n de un estudio emp\u00edrico sobre una muestra de 289 empresas.  los resultados sugieren que la sucesi\u00f3n forzada depende b\u00e1sicamente del rendimiento previo, aunque esta relaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 moderada por la influencia de otros factores como la composici\u00f3n del consejo de administraci\u00f3n, la antig\u00ed\u00bcedad del directivo, etc. En cu\u00e1ndo a las consecuencias, los resultados indican que el rendimiento de la empresa se ve influenciado por la sucesi\u00f3n solo en el caso en que \u00e9sta sea forzada, mientras que la rotaci\u00f3n directiva se ve influenciada por la sucesi\u00f3n tanto en el caso de que \u00e9sta sea forzada como no forzada.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
