As\u00ed, reaccionan con 1,2-fenilendiaminas, originando las correspondientes policloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahidrofenacinas, las cuales pueden ser f\u00e1cilmente transformadas, en las respectivas clorofenacinas mediante tratamiento con un agente b\u00e1sico (preferiblemente piridina \u00f3 2,6-lutidina). este procedimiento de s\u00edntesis es general, y permite la preparaci\u00f3n de una amplia variedad de clorofenacinas funcionalizadas inaccesibles hasta el momento.  la hidrataci\u00f3n de 3,3,6,6-tetracloro-1,2-ciclohexanodiona proporciona 3,3,6,6-tetracloro-2,2-dihidroxiciclohexanona, la cual ha sido utilizada como equivalente sint\u00e9tico de 6-cloro-3-hidroxi-1,2-benzoquinona, permitiendo el acceso a 4-cloro-1-hidroxifenacinas, cuya formaci\u00f3n se explica por un proceso de transposici\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de espeices 1-hidroxi-2-cloroep\u00f3xido intermedias.  mediante reacci\u00f3n con hidr\u00f3xido de sodio, ciertas 1,2-ciclohexanodionas cloradas son especialmente \u00fatiles para sintetizar directamente los \u00e1cidos 2,5,5-tricloro-1,2-epoxi-1-ciclopentanocarbox\u00edlico y c-2,t-5-dicloro-1,2-epoxi-r-1-ciclopentanocarbox\u00edlico, mientras que su tratamiento con trietilamina proporciona 3,6-dicloro-1,2-catecol y 3-cloro-1,2-catecol.  las determinaciones estructurales
