Con el objetivo de reducir la incidencia de este tip de enfermedades, una buena y reciente estrategia es la quimioprevenci\u00f3n primaria. Ello implica, disponer de compuestos o mezclas de compuestos con actividad antimutag\u00e9nica probada, que puedan incorporarse a la dieta.  en este sentido, en el presente trabajo se ha realizado la caracterizaci\u00f3n del espectro antimutag\u00e9nico de una planta end\u00e9mica de cuba. Phyllanthus orbicularis., Frente a diferentes mut\u00e1genos tipo y el esclarecimiento de algunos de los mecanismos de antimutag\u00e9nicos implicados. Asimismo, se ha desarrollado un m\u00e9todo  de fraccionamiento del extracto de esta planta, determinado el potencial de cada fracci\u00f3n con el objetivo de aislar e identificar los bioproductos antimutag\u00e9nicos.  previamente a los estudios de antimutag\u00e9nicos, se evalu\u00f3 la genotoxicidad y mutagenicidad del extrado crudo de p.Orbicularis, utilizando diferentes sistemas de ensayo in vitro e in vivo. En ellos se demostr\u00f3 que no hay indicios de genotoxicidad ni de mutag\u00e9nesis a dosis no t\u00f3xicas.  los estudios de antimutag\u00e9nisis frente a mut\u00e1genos directos (h2=2, mnng, as) y a promut\u00e1genos (aas y pahs) fueron llevados a cabo empleando el ensayo de retromutaci\u00f3n en salmonella, a\u00f1adiendo en los casos necesarios fracci\u00f3n microsomal s9 de h\u00edgado de ratas pretratadas con fenobarbital\/beta-naftoflavona o s9 humana. Los resultados obtenidos con el m\u00e9todo de incorporaci\u00f3n a placa, mostraron que el extracto de p.Orbicularis contiene bioproductos que disminuyen significativamente la mutag\u00e9nesis producida por un agente oxidativo (h2o2), un alquilante (mnng) o por uno que introduce erroes de apareamiento (as).
