En \u00e9l se exponen las interpretaciones tradicionales de ciertos textos prof\u00e9ticos (daniel 2 y 7) legitimadoras del imperio o la iglesia como monarqu\u00edas universales, y se centra en una que acab\u00f3 empleando la iglesia, defini\u00e9ndose a s\u00ed misma como monarqu\u00eda (la \u00faltima). La configuraci\u00f3n mon\u00e1rquica de la iglesia por una parte sustentaba esa interpretaci\u00f3n, y por otra se apoyaba en ella. as\u00ed las cosas, la reforma con la subsiguiente definici\u00f3n confesional de la iglesia cat\u00f3lica consolid\u00f3 esa interpretaci\u00f3n, mientras se elaboraba una historia eclesi\u00e1stica que tambi\u00e9n la fundamentaba. Esa construcci\u00f3n es la que se adopta en los textos que definen la monarqu\u00eda de espa\u00f1a (l\u00f3pez madera, garnica, puente, salazar), elabor\u00e1ndose tambi\u00e9n una historia de espa\u00f1a (garibay), para figurar una monarqu\u00eda universal que no era otra cosa que iglesia cat\u00f3lica. El segundo, a la distinci\u00f3n entre una historia de espa\u00f1a como historia eclesi\u00e1stica y una historia civil, particular, aragonesa (blancas, pleito de virrey extranjero). El tercero lo dedicamos a los l\u00edmites del discurso expuesto anteriormente (antonio p\u00e9rez, tacitismo), y al inicio de la asimilaci\u00f3n de la historia eclesi\u00e1stica de espa\u00f1a en arag\u00f3n (lanuza, briz, carrillo). Y el cuarto y \u00faltimo a mostrar, por un lado, el mantenimiento de los discursos de monarqu\u00eda de espa\u00f1a y constitucional aragon\u00e9s; por otro a comprender c\u00f3mo las alteraciones en la historia hispana producidas en el debate finisecular (entre novatores: moret, pellicer, abarca, dormer, la ripa) no modificaban esencialmente ni su historia eclesi\u00e1stica ni el discurso de monarqu\u00eda y finalmente a comprobar c\u00f3mo el discurso constitucional aragon\u00e9s pod\u00eda imbricarse tanto en una historia hispana como en un discurso de monarqu\u00eda de espa\u00f1a.
