Se utiliz\u00f3 el m\u00e9todo de velocidades iniciales para el an\u00e1lisis cin\u00e9tico. Para ambos catalizadores se encontr\u00f3 que la velocidad inicial, v0, de reacci\u00f3n es de primer orden con respecto a la concentraci\u00f3n de rutenio mientras que el orden de reacci\u00f3n cambiaba de uno a cero con respecto a las concentraciones de hexacianoferrato(iii) y sustrato al aumentar sus concentraciones. La dependencia de v0 con la concentraci\u00f3n de iones hidr\u00f3xido es complicada, lo que implica la existencia de dos especies catal\u00edticas activas de rutenio. Los resultados experimentales sugieren la existencia de un mecanismo de recci\u00f3n basado en un ciclo catal\u00edtico en el que la especie activa de rutenio oxida al sustrato a trav\u00e9s de la formaci\u00f3n de un complejo. Este complejo se descompone dando lugar a una especie reducida de rutenio, la cual se reoxida en una etapa lenta mediante la acci\u00f3n del hexacianoferrato(iii). La diferencia mecanicista est\u00e1 en que el proceso sigue una v\u00eda radic\u00e1lica (oxidaci\u00f3n por un electr\u00f3n) para el rutenio(iii) y una v\u00eda ionica (oxidaci\u00f3n por dos
