Este gen codifica una prote\u00edna de funci\u00f3n desconocida que se expresa durante la maduraci\u00f3n de frutos de fresa.  la primera aproximaci\u00f3n aborda la caracterizaci\u00f3n del gen, incluyendo estudios de expresi\u00f3n y comparaciones de tipo bioinform\u00e1tico. Las comparaciones con genes parecidos y los estudios de expresi\u00f3n podr\u00edan soportar un papel para el producto proteico de este gen en los procesos de resistencia a pat\u00f3genos.  la segunda aproximaci\u00f3n consiste en la obtenci\u00f3n de plantas transg\u00e9nicas que sobre-expresen el gen con el fin de ver que fenotipo muestran y as\u00ed proponer una funci\u00f3n para esta prote\u00edna. Las especies utilizadas para transformar son dos, la fresa silvestre y arabidopsis thaliana. La propia sobre-expresi\u00f3n del transg\u00e9n parece haber dificultado la obtenci\u00f3n de plantas. En ambos casos, los resultados obtenidos parecen indicar que fagast cuando se expresa disminuye la tasa de crecimiento y retrasa la floraci\u00f3n. Estos resultados y su comparaci\u00f3n con otros obtenidos en sistemas distintos permiten tambi\u00e9n deducir que este gen estar\u00eda involucrado en la respuesta a
