En este clon se secuencio, en primer lugar, una region de 11,5 kb que hibridaba con genes de biosintesis de otros antibioticos macrolidos. El analisis de esta secuencia permitio detectar dos pautas abiertas de lectura: orf1 (incompleta) y orf2 (completa).  el producto genico deducido a partir de la orf2 mostraba gran homolog\u00eda con poliquetido sintetasas tipo i y esta enzima posiblemente lleve a cabo la sintesis del anillo lactona de la oleandomicina. Este gen (orf2) no presenta un contenido en gc total ni un uso de codones tipico de los genes de streptomyces. Su % gc en la tercera posicion de cada codon es el mas bajo conocido para un gen de streptomyces. El porcentaje de codones terminando en t (20,2%) es muy superior al de los genes de streptomyces (3,6%) y ello va acompa\u00f1ado de una disminucion de codones terminando en c. En segundo lugar, se secuencio otra region del clon cosab35, la cual conferia resistencia a oleandomicina.
