En todos los casos las unidades sensoras se basan en fibra \u00f3ptica monomodo de s\u00edlice est\u00e1ndar de telecomunicaciones, cuya cubierta se elimina parcialmente mediante pulido mec\u00e1nico en una peque\u00f1a regi\u00f3n. La perturbaci\u00f3n de la zona pulida altera la atenuaci\u00f3n que sufre la se\u00f1al \u00f3ptica transmitida, dando lugar a una correlaci\u00f3n controlable entre la potencia \u00f3ptica de la se\u00f1al de salida y el mensurado considerado. se ha estudiado la respuesta de este tipo de estructuras, especialmente en relaci\u00f3n con el \u00edndice de refracci\u00f3n del material externo en contacto con la zona pulida y con la longitud de onda de la luz utilizada.
