Hemos aislado mutantes que carecen de actividad dipeptidil aminopeptidasica. Su analisis bioquimico y genetico mostro que poseian defectos en su gen estructural dap1+, localizado en el cromosoma iii de la levadura de fision. Hemos aislado tambien, mediante complementacion funcional, el gen ape1+, que codifica a la aminopeptidasa mayoritaria de schizosaccharomyces pombe. Hemos secuenciado las dos hebras de un fragmento de dna de 4 kb que contiene el gen y las zonas flanqueantes. Hemos detectado una pauta abierta de lectura de 2646 bp que codifica una proteina de 882 aminoacidos con una masa molecular de 99130 da.
