Los g\u00e9neros trypanosoma, leishmania y plasmodium son, entre los protozoos par\u00e1sitos, aquellos cuyo impacto sobre la calidad de vida es m\u00e1 notorio, tanto por la mortandad que causan como por la morbilidad de las enfermedades de las que son responsables. A pesar de su impacto sanitario, los conocimientos que se poseen acerca del tratamiento o prevenci\u00f3n de estas enfermedades son escasos. La comprensi\u00f3n de los complejos mecanismos moleculares y celulares subyacentes a las relaciones par\u00e1sito-hu\u00e9sped es indispensable para hacer frente a las enfermedades que provocan.  la invasi\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas hospedadoras por trypanosoma cruzi es un proceso complejo que implica bastante acontecimientos que no se conocen con profundidad. Uno de los momentos clave durante la infecci\u00f3n se presenta cuando el par\u00e1sito entra en contacto con la c\u00e9lula hospedadora, originando la reorganizaci\u00f3n de los lisosomas y su fusi\u00f3n a la membrana plasm\u00e1tica, y dando lugar a la formaci\u00f3n de una vacuola que rodea al par\u00e1sito en el punto de contacto con la membrana. Para completar su ciclo de vida, los par\u00e1sitos deben escapar de esta vacuola para lo que se ha propuesto la intervenci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas que parecen ser funcionalmente parecidas a la porina del complemento (andrews y col., 1990). Estas prote\u00ednas, activas a ph \u00e1cido, producir\u00e1n poros en la membrana de la vacuola, quedando los par\u00e1sitos libres en el citosol.  aunque la maquinaria celular implicada en el proceso es conocida, pocas mol\u00e9culas del par\u00e1sito han sido identificadas. De hecho, hasta la fecha solo tres prote\u00ednas parasitarias, tctox, oligopeptidasa b y tcmip, se han mostrado de forma convincente en el proceso de invasi\u00f3n.  una nueva mol\u00e9cula implicada
