La preparaci\u00f3n de estas part\u00edculas con una peque\u00f1a dispersi\u00f3n de tama\u00f1os ha permitido la fabricaci\u00f3n de \u00f3palos artificiales cuyas bandas de atenuaci\u00f3n abarcan el rango visible y parte del infrarrojo cercano del espectro electromagn\u00e9tico.  la formaci\u00f3n de estas estructuras tridimensionales requiri\u00f3 el control de las propiedades f\u00edsico-qu\u00edmicas de las superficie de las part\u00edculas. se obtuvieron \u00f3palos de espesor controlado entre 10 y 50 um mediante confinamiento y \u00f3palos de espesor de alrededor de 300 um mediante sedimentaci\u00f3n en medios adecuados.  se estudiaron las propiedades \u00f3pticas de estos \u00f3palos y se compararon con las estructuras de bandas para este tipo de materiales que se han obtenido mediante c\u00e1lculos te\u00f3ricos.  se prepar\u00f3 una l\u00ednea de deposici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica en fase vapor que ha permitido la infiltraci\u00f3n de si en los \u00f3palos. Las propiedades \u00f3pticas de los materiales infiltrados as\u00ed como de aquellos en los que se eliminaron las part\u00edculas iniciales han sido estudiadas y comparadas con los c\u00e1lculos te\u00f3ricos. La importancia de las estructuras inversas de si radica en que la teor\u00eda indica que para dichas estructuras presentan existe un rango de frecuencias que no se puede propagar en ninguna de las direcciones del cristal, con lo que esto supone a la hora de poder aplicar este tipo de materiales en dispositivos fot\u00f3nicos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
