La muestra (440 sujetos que frecuentaban el sexto a\u00f1o de escolaridad) ha sido seleccionada en cuatro centros escolares portugueses (castelo branco, fundao, guarda y viseu). De la muestra total se ha seleccionado un subgrupo de alumnos (80) con un rendimiento escolar mas elevado (grupo a) y un otro subgrupo con un rendimiento escolar mas bajo (grupo z).  se han definido 32 variables distribuidas por tres grupos: a-variables de rendimiento (5); b-variables de aptitud intelectual (3) y c-variables linguisticas (24) que han sido distribuidas por 4 categorias: a) signos de puntuacion; b) categorias gramaticales; c) cuantificacion del vocabulario; d) usualidad del vocabulario y han sido aplicadas al texto escrito (12) y al texto oral (12). El metodo estadistico analisis de varianza permitio hacer la comprobacion y comparacion de las caracteristicas diferenciales del grupo a frente al grupo z. Los resultados demuestran que existen diferencias significativas entre alumnos de alto y bajo rendimiento escolar a nivel de aptitudes intelectuales y de uso linguistico y se concluye que en el contexto escolar las variables intelectuales y el lenguaje son factores condicionantes del exito o fracaso de los alumnos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
