La resistencia a quinolonas en este microorganismo, aunque presenta una preValencia muy baja, es ya un hecho.  la resistencia a quinolonas en streptococcus pneumoniae se debe a alteraciones en las topoisomerasa y sistemas de expulsi\u00f3n activa, pero hasta este momento no se conoce las relaciones de dependencia entre estos dos mecanismos de resistencia. Para aclarar estas relaciones se realiza un estudio de selecci\u00f3n secuencial de resistencias en presencia y ausencia de un inhibidor de bombas de flujo: reserpina.  entre los resultados obtenidos podemos destacar los siguientes:  la exposici\u00f3n a las antiguas quinolonas genera resistencia a ellas mismas y a las nuevas quinolonas.  la presencia de reserpina en el proceso de selecci\u00f3n abole la aparici\u00f3n de fenotipos de expulsi\u00f3n aumentada, que s\u00ed se hacen evidentes cuando la selecci\u00f3n se lleva a cabo en ausencia de reserpina.  la exposici\u00f3n de una cepa silvestre a concentraciones subinhibitorias de norfloxacino puede originar altos niveles de resistencia a quinolonas debido exclusivamente a sistemas de expulsi\u00f3n activa, sin mutaciones en las qrdr de las topoisomerasas.  a diferencia de lo que sugieren otros autores, la incubaci\u00f3n en presencia de inhibidores de bomba como reserpina, no s\u00f3lo no dificulta la emergencia de mutantes resistentes por cambios en las topoisomerasas sino que incluso precipitan la aparici\u00f3n de estos mutantes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
