Estos compuestos aparecen asociados como contaminantes en distintos tipos de aguas y efluentes industriales y est\u00e1n incluidos entre los contaminantes prioritarios da-dos por la usepa y la uni\u00f3n europea.  un estudio del comportamiento de estas sustancias en cuanto a una posible degradaci\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica aerobia mostr\u00f3 que ambos presentaban baja biodegradabilidad y algunas como el dcp y tintes de textil eran inhibidores de la biodegradaci\u00f3n de otras fuentes de carbono, lo que hac\u00edan necesario buscar alternativas a los procesos biol\u00f3gicos convencionales.  en una primera parte se estudi\u00f3 la degradaci\u00f3n de estos compuestos mediante procesos de oxidaci\u00f3n avanzada (poas), implican la generaci\u00f3n de radicales altamente reactivos, principalmente radicales hidro-xilo oh.) Basados en el uso de los procesos de foto-oxidaci\u00f3n, en este caso, irradiaci\u00f3n directo con luz uv o uva, y combinaci\u00f3n estas fuentes de luz con; uv(a)\/h2o2, uv(a)\/fe(iii), uv(a)\/fe(ii)\/h2o2 y el proceso fenton, en cuatro reactores diferentes de tipo reactor tubular y tanques agitados, operando les en batch. Las variables seguidas a lo largo del proceso fueron la concentraci\u00f3n de los contaminantes, ph, concentraci\u00f3n iniciales del h2o2, conc. Iniciales de fe(ii), tiempo de irradiaci\u00f3n y carbono org\u00e1nico total (cot). En la irradiaci\u00f3n directa se estudi\u00f3 el efecto de tiempo de irradiaci\u00f3n en la degradaci\u00f3n de ambos el poh y dcp. Adem\u00e1s, se estimaron los constantes cin\u00e9ticos de la reacci\u00f3n de uv con poh y dcp (aprox. 0.0056 min-1 y 0.0066 min-1 para poh y dcp, respect).
