Esta subfamilia recientemente se ha relacionado con el transporte de l\u00edpidos.  en este trabajo, se ha clonado y secuenciado el gren responsable del mismo, que se ha situado en dos cromosomas homologos de diferente tama\u00f1o. estos resultados aportan una informaci\u00f3n muy \u00fatil en el marco del proyecto genoma de trypanosoma, y que ayudar\u00e1 en el futuro en el conocimiento y mapeo de otros transportadores de tipo abc en estos microorganismos.  mediante diversas t\u00e9cnicas, se ha conseguido la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de esta prote\u00edna, lo que ha resultado de gran utilidad a la hora de la obtenci\u00f3n de anticuerpos policlonales frente a tcabca1. Estos anticuerpos han sido empleados posteriormente en experimentos de inmunofluorescencia directa e inmunocitoqu\u00edmica para localizar el citado transportador tcabca1, en el bolsillo flagelar y en estructuras relacionadas con el tr\u00e1fico vesicular.  tcabca1, s\u00f3lo aparece en las formas amastigotas intracelulares, donde presenta altos niveles de expresi\u00f3n, y posteriormente se distribuye de forma diferente cuando el par\u00e1sito comienza a virar a forma tripomastigota. Tanto los estudios de northern blot, western blot e inmuunofluorescencia indirecta, demuestran que las formas tripomastigotas extracelulares no expresan tcabc1. El hecho que la prote\u00edna tcabc1 se exprese de forma diferencial en los distintos estad\u00edos del par\u00e1sito puede llevar asociado un papel importante, en los procesos de crecimiento y diferenciaci\u00f3n celular, adaptaci\u00f3n a las distintas condiciones ambientales, infectividad, etc.  el trabajo se completa finalmente, con un original estudio, donde utilizando
