Se estudian 26 ratas en distintas edades del desarrollo con el fin de observar los cambios en la actividad enzimatica durante el desarrollo postnatal asi como establecer el patron de tincion del adulto.  en la rata adulta se ha observado una gran variabilidad en cuanto a las caracteristicas morfologicas y distribucion neuronal asi como en los patrones de tincion del neuropilo. A lo largo del desarrollo se observan diversos cambios en la distribucion e intensidad de las neuronas asi como en la intensidad y patrones de tincion el neuropilo, que en muchos casos son transitorios y en otras ocasiones se mantienen hasta la edad adulta.  se concluye que la oxido nitrico sintetasa puede intervenir en procesos muy diversos segun sea su localizacion y momento de
