En este trabajo de investigacion tras analizar de forma exhaustiva las concepciones basicas de los indicadores socio-ocupacionales y de confort de las tripulaciones en los distintos tipos de buque; se pasa a analizar la evolucion historica que han determinado la salud y bienestar a lo largo de la historia en la navegacion maritima. Se define como marco referencial de estudio la estructura de la flota mercante nacional e interinsular; estableciendo una muestra de \u00abbuques modelo\u00bb sobre los que se realiza un trabajo de campo en relacion a las condiciones de vida y confort en tripulaciones de la flota mercante de tenerife.  finalmente se establecen correlaciones de situacion entre las condiciones de vida de cada buque y las tripulaciones que estan expuestas a las mismas.
