Los mutantes afectados en estos genes nrg han sido seleccionados por su fenotipo de sensibilidad a clorato en presencia de amonio (csa), condici\u00f3n bajo la cual la estirpe parental es resistente. el an\u00e1lisis gen\u00e9tico de estos mutantes indica que las mutaciones est\u00e1n asociadas a la inserci\u00f3n plasm\u00eddica, son epist\u00e1ticas sobre el alelo mutante nit2, y afectan a genes que no se encuentran ligados entre s\u00ed.  las mutaciones nrg de las estirpes n1, n10 y n24 no afectan a la regulaci\u00f3n de los sistemas de alta afinidad, nrt2;1\/nar2 (sistema i) y nrt2;2\/nar2 (sistema ii), de c.Reinhardtii.  el nitrato clorato, agente inductor y t\u00f3xico respectivamente, entra al interior celular en presencia de amonio a trav\u00e9s de sistemas de transporte de baja afinidad de nitrato. La causa princial del fenotipo csa en los mutantes reguladores aislados es la despresi\u00f3n, parcial de la expresi\u00f3n de la nitrato reductasa en condiciones de inducci\u00f3n\/represi\u00f3n (nitrato + amonio). Dicha desrepresi\u00f3n es mayor en el mutante n10 que en los dos mutantes n1 y n24.  el estudio molecular de los mutantes nrg se ha abordado mediante rescate plasm\u00eddico.  en el mutante n24 (nrg4) se ha aislado un fragmento de 1,4 kb adyacente a la inserci\u00f3n y que presenta cierta homolog\u00eda con factores de transcripci\u00f3n. en el caso del mutante n1 (nrg1), se ha aislado mediante pcr inversa un fragmento de 2,5 kb usado para el escrutinio de una biblioteca de dna cromos\u00f3mico. aislamos as\u00ed un fragmento de aproximadamente 7kb cuya subclonaci\u00f3n y secuenciaci\u00f3n nos ha permitido identificar en el locus nrg1 un nuevo ltr-retrotranspos\u00f3n en c.Reinhardtii de tipo gypsy que hemos denominado crrem1.
