Adem\u00e1s, este episodio ha sido interpretado en contextos distintos. De ah\u00ed, que se estudien las interpretaciones recogidas en el texto sagrado. El trabajo realizado ha sido desarrollado bajo una comprensi\u00f3n teol\u00f3gica de los textos, precedida por el an\u00e1lisis hist\u00f3rico-cr\u00edtico.  el estudio del texto de num 21,4-9 se ha desarrollado prestando particular atenci\u00f3n al vocabulario y buscando relaciones con otros \u00abepisodios de murmuraci\u00f3n\u00bb, con la literatura prof\u00e9tica  y deuteronomista. El esquema \u00abpecado &#8211; castigo &#8211; arrepentimiento &#8211; salvaci\u00f3n\u00bb es el mismo que el del libro de los jueces. adem\u00e1s, se han encontrado elementos que llevan a pensar que la per\u00edcopa pertenece a una redacci\u00f3n de n\u00fameros.  seg\u00fan las conclusiones de la tesis, existe una antigua tradici\u00f3n sobre la construcci\u00f3n de una serpiente de bronce por parte de mois\u00e9s que se refleja en primer lugar en el pasaje de 2 r 18,4; luego  viene recogido en la per\u00edcopa de num 21,4-9 que, en su forma actual, resultar\u00eda posterior.  el episodio de las mordeduras de serpientes en el desierto y de la construcci\u00f3n de una serpiente fue interpretado, en un contexto helenista, en sb 16,5-14. un largo midr\u00e1s de los eventos del \u00e9xodo, estructurado seg\u00fan una comparaci\u00f3n entre la acci\u00f3n de dios con los hebreos y la acci\u00f3n con los egipcios, engloba este recuerdo de la serpiente. En este pasaje se interpreta la funci\u00f3n de curaci\u00f3n subrayando la acci\u00f3n de dios, su poder y la mediaci\u00f3n de la ley. Hay algunas peculiaridades respecto del pasaje de n\u00fameros: la ausencia de la figura de mois\u00e9s, la funci\u00f3n de la misericordia divina que salva casi sin esperar el arrepentimiento del
