De burnout estimado a traves del maslach burnout inventory (mbi). Los marcos teoricos de referencia son la teoria sobre el s. De burnout y los modelos teoricos de estres laboral-afrontamiento-salud. La muestra utilizada esta integrada por 196 profesionales de enfermeria. Se empleo el analisis causal multivariado para contrastar los modelos explicativos elaborados. Los resultados presentaron que, para el objetivo i, no se obtuvieron diferencias\/relaciones significativas en burnout en funcion de variables demograficas. Para el objetivo ii, la perspectiva teorica sobre el sindrome de burnout elaborada en este trabajo da una explicacion mas adecuada que la de golembiewski y col. (1983) o la de leiter (1988). En funcion de esos resultados el proceso de burnout se inicia con bajos sentimientos de realizacion personal en el trabajo y altos sentimientos de agotamiento emocional, y posteriormente se desarrolla
