Estos compuestos se han hecho reaccionar con sales de ni(ii), zn(ii) y cu(ii) para obtener los correspondientes complejos. Los de ni(ii) que son paramagn\u00e9ticos coordinan dos mol\u00e9culas de sulfonamida, con una estructura octa\u00e9drica distorsionada por incorporaci\u00f3n de dos mol\u00e9culas de disolvente. Los de zn(ii) presentan una estructura tetra\u00e9drica altamente distorsionada y los de cu(ii) una estructura intermedia entre la tetra\u00e9drica y la cuadrado plana. Todas las estructuras se han determinado por difracci\u00f3n de rayos x. La preparaci\u00f3n de los complejos de cu(ii) en presencia de bipiridilo lleva a la obtenci\u00f3n de complejos mixtos que contienen una mol\u00e9cula de bipiridilo y otra de sulfonamida. Tambi\u00e9n se ha incorporado una mol\u00e9cula de 1,10-fenantrolina a la esfera de coordinaci\u00f3n de los complejos de cu(ii).  los estudios de la actividad nucleasa realizados con el pl\u00e1smido puci18 muestran que los complejos de cobre con sulfonamidas como \u00fanicos ligandos no son activos. Sin embargo, los complejos mixtos con sulfonamidas y bipiridilo ya son capaces de romper las cadenas de adn para ciertas concentraciones, hecho que se ve fuertemente incrementado en los complejos mixtos con sulfonamidas y 1,10-fenantrolina, que llegan a tener una actividad nucleasa superior al complejo de cobre con 1,10-fenantrolina, que suele tomarse como
