Las prote\u00ednas de choque t\u00e9rmico (hsps) son las mol\u00e9culas efectoras de esta respuesta de defensa celular. Se encuentran presentes en todos los organismos y se agrupan en distintas familias en funci\u00f3n de su peso molecular aproximado.  dentro de la familia hsp 70, la hsp 70c se expresa de manera constitutiva y la hsp 70i se induce frente a diferentes tipos de estr\u00e9s. Estas prote\u00ednas funcionan como caperonas moleculares que mantienen el correcto estado de plegamiento de las prote\u00ednas celulares, tanto en condiciones normales (biog\u00e9nesis proteica, paso a trav\u00e9s de membranas), como en situaciones de estr\u00e9s (ayudando a recuperar la conformaci\u00f3n nativa perdida).  el estudio de estas caperonas de la familia hsp 70 en las situaciones de hipertermia y de isquemia\/reperfusi\u00f3n ha demostrado su capacidad citoprotectora. por una parte, las temperaturas en el rango febril generan la inducci\u00f3n de hsps, pudiendo constituir un mecanismo regulador de las defensas inmunes del hospedador. Y, por otra, la hipertermia cl\u00ednica se utiliza en oncolog\u00eda como tratamiento adyuvante de la radioterapia y la quimioterapia. Tambi\u00e9n, el precondicionamiento isqu\u00e9mico cardiaco ha demostrado ser protector del coraz\u00f3n frente a posteriores insultos isqu\u00e9micos de mayor intensidad, involucrando en esta protecci\u00f3n a la familia hsp 702.  el desarrollo de modelos in vivo en cerdo miniatura para el estudio de estos dos fen\u00f3menos citoprotectores (hipertermia y precondicionamiento isqu\u00e9mico cardiaco) constituye una aproximaci\u00f3n v\u00e1lida para el mejor conocimiento de esta capacidad end\u00f3gena de protecci\u00f3n celular.
