Para ello hemos estudiado de forma prospectiva a 231 pacientes, 184 varones y 47 mujeres con una edad media de 60,5 a\u00f1os, ingresados en un servicio de cardiolog\u00eda a causa de infarto agudo de miocardio (72), angor (137), y\/o otras alteraciones secundarias a cardiopatia isquemica como arritmias (52), insuficiencia cardiaca congestiva (41) o cardiopatia hipertensiva (19). Una vez pasada la fase aguda que motivo el ingreso, se realizo un estudio nutricional que incluyo: indice de masa corporal (peso\/talla2), peso relativo en relacion con el peso ideal (ipi) y con el peso medio poblacional canario, antropometria del tercio medio del brazo (pliegue tricipital, area muscular del brazo y perimetro braquial), pliegues subcutaneos y estimacion de la grasa corporal total mediante la formula de siri, determinacion del agr (indice cintura\/cadera para ver el tipo de obesidad), determinacion de albumina, colesterol total, hdl colesterol y trigliceridos, y encuesta nutricional.  los pacientes han sido seguidos hasta un maximo de 1.385 dias (mediana 1.023 dias) a partir de su valoracion nutricional.  el estudio nutricional mostro una tendencia al exceso de grasa, encontrando que el 53% de los pacientes estaban por encima del 120% del peso ideal y que el 23% superaba el percentil 90 poblacional del pliegue tricipital. El tipo de obesidad que predomina es el androide.  encontramos una disminucion de la reserva muscular, con una distribucion del area muscular del brazo que se desplaza hacia los percentiles poblacionales mas bajos. A lo largo del seguimiento fallecieron 33 pacientes (4 por causa distinta a la cardiopatia).
