Esto ha implicado una optimizaci\u00f3n del protocolo para asegurar la reproducibilidad intralaboratorios y la estabilidad de las condiciones experimentales.  despu\u00e9s de la optimizaci\u00f3n del protocolo adoptado, se procedi\u00f3 a la determinaci\u00f3n de la citotoxicidad, al establecimiento de las relaciones dosis-efecto para 35 compuestos met\u00e1licos identificados como prioritarios, a la determinaci\u00f3n de los valores de ic50, a la evaluaci\u00f3n del potencial carcinog\u00e9nico, y a la determinaci\u00f3n de la transformaci\u00f3n de las especies met\u00e1licas mediante estudios mecanic\u00edsticos. En este contexto, una aproximaci\u00f3n inicial fue el estudio de la respuesta apopt\u00f3tica inducida por los compuestos met\u00e1licos seleccionados en las c\u00e9lulas balb\/3t3. Este estudio ha mostrado que se deber\u00eda utilizar m\u00e1s de un ensayo para establecer inequivocamente la inducci\u00f3n de apoptosis por alguno de los compuestos met\u00e1licos. Los resultados obtenidos con as (iii), cr (vi) y algunos compuestos de pt sugieren la existencia de una relaci\u00f3n entre los procesos apopt\u00f3tico, genot\u00f3xico y carcinog\u00e9nico.  para los estudios mecan\u00edsticos y de metabolismo, se aplicaron t\u00e9cnicas como el uso de raditrazadores, espectrometr\u00eda de masas con plasma de acoplamiento inductivo, y resonancia
