La principal fuente renal de amonio es la v\u00eda enzim\u00e1tica que parte de la glutamina convirtiendola primero en glutamato y finalmente en alfa-cetoglutarato. La desaminaci\u00f3n completa de la glutamina por esta v\u00eda genera dos iones amonio y est\u00e1 mediada por la glutaminasa renal y la alfa-cetoglutarato deshidrogenasa. El flujo a trav\u00e9s de esta v\u00eda es de gran importancia para la excreci\u00f3n renal de amonio y, en general, para el control del ph sist\u00e9mico. Uno de los elementos clave en esta v\u00eda es el transportador de glutamato renal  eaac1 dado que regula la asequibilidad de glutamato  en el interior de la c\u00e9lula. Sobre esta premisa, consideramos oportuno el estudio del a regulaci\u00f3n del principal transportador de glutamato renal en situaci\u00f3n de acidosis.  el estudio se ha realizado siguiendo dos \u00f3pticas diferentes pero complementarias; mediante un modelo de acidosis conocida y controlada, como es el cultivo in vitro de c\u00e9lulas renales, y en un modelo de acidosis fisiol\u00f3gica, como la diabetes, estudiada en ratas tratadas con estreptozotocina. A partir de estos trabajos se ha podido concluir:  1,- el transporte renal de amino\u00e1cidos ani\u00f3nicos a trav\u00e9s de la isoforma eaac1 del sistema de transporte x ag se encuentra estimulado durante la acidosis metab\u00f3lica por un mecanismo que implica la s\u00edntesis de nuevas mol\u00e9culas de prote\u00edna ya sea del mismo transportador o de alg\u00fan regulador de su actividad, todav\u00eda no descrito.  2,- la regulaci\u00f3n por ph del sistema x ag- es un mecanismo exclusivo del ri\u00f1\u00f3n, posiblemente implicado en la supervivencia del epitelio tubular renal en condiciones fisiol\u00f3gicas. Es posible que otros tejidos perif\u00e9ricos est\u00e9n expresando isoformas distintas de eaac1 y que \u00e9stas no tengan la capacidad para responder a este tipo de estimulo.  3,- la respuesta
