Lo que ha permitido ampliar el numero de herramientas geneticas disponibles para estudiar este genero, asi como optimizar un sistema de mutagenesis por transposicion que permite obtener hasta 2,7&#215;10-5 mutantes\/cs receptora. Asimismo se ha clonado y secuenciado parte de la region eri (implicada en el metabolismo del eritritol) tanto de b. Abortus 2308 (cepa silvestre virulenta), como de b. Abortus b19, cepa avirulenta empleada como vacuna, y la unica en ser inhibida por la presencia de eritritol en el medio.  dentro de esta region se han localizado 4 posibles genes, eria, erib, eric, y erid, que codifican diversas proteinas implicadas en la ruta metabolica del eritritol.  esta delecion constituye un polimorfismo genetico que permite diferenciar a b19 del resto de cepas de brucella estudiadas. Mediante una reaccion de pcr, se produce la amplificacion especifica de fragmentos de dna de distinto tama\u00f1o segun se trate de b19 (361 pb) o cualquier otra cepa de brucella spp (1063 pb). Esta caracteristica permite la identificacion por pcr de brucella spp., Asi como de la cepa vacunal b19.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
