Las ense\u00f1anzas del instituto-escuela de sevilla tienen un doble caracter:  como \u00ablaboratorio\u00bb y \u00abmodelo\u00bb, es decir, como taller de ensayo pedagogico y al mismo tiempo su aspiracion de centro de referencia.  como objetivos basicos se plantea la formacion integral, la educacion antes que la instruccion, lo que implica una apertura con areas no cubiertas por la ense\u00f1anza tradicional, al mismo tiempo que la voluntad de impregnar a las mismas de un caracter etico y de desarrollo de valores (tolerancia, paz, justicia&#8230;). La proyeccion actual del instituto-escuela se manifiesta en el caracter renovador de sus ense\u00f1anzas y estrategia metodologica (sin examenes ni academicismos, favoreciendo el trabajo de campo a traves de sistematicas salidas, de tal forma que estas se integran en el curriculo,&#8230;) En resumen, una experiencia de calidad pedagogica y al igual que los otros ensayos de institutos-escuelas,
