El proceso inflamatorio desencadenado por el tnbs se localiz\u00f3 en el colon distal, pero no en el proximal. En el colon proximal se inhibi\u00f3 significativamente el m\u00e1ximo de secreci\u00f3n de los agentes secretagogos carbacol e histamina, deduci\u00e9ndose alteraciones del transporte de iones en las regiones alejadas del foco inflamatorio. El colon distal exhibi\u00f3 transporte basal de iones inhibido, as\u00ed como respuesta reducida a los agentes carbacol, histamina, isobutilmetilxantina (ibmx) y el p\u00e9ptido vasoactivo intestinal (vip).  experimentos libres de iones demostraron que la secreci\u00f3n electrog\u00e9nica se deb\u00eda al ion cl. Por otro lado, experimentos en mucosa sola (sin la submucosa) exhibieron m\u00e1ximos de secreci\u00f3n normales para los cuatro agentes secretagogos utilizados, indicando un defecto en la regulaci\u00f3n del transporte. en todos los casos las curvas del ibmx y el vip estuvieron desplazadas hacia la derecha. La utilizaci\u00f3n de tetrodotoxina e indometacina tambi\u00e9n desplazaron las curvas hacia la derecha, se\u00f1alando un defecto de la v\u00eda del ampc durante la inflamaci\u00f3n col\u00f3nica. La respuesta de la mucosa al 8-br-ampc y al aif4 fue similar en animales sanos y con inflamaci\u00f3n intestinal, sin embargo, los niveles de ampc en colonocitos aislados estuvieron marcadamente disminuidos. Finalmente, se concluy\u00f3 que durante la inflamaci\u00f3n intestinal existen alteraciones en el sistema nervioso ent\u00e9rico que como resultado dan una producci\u00f3n deficiente de ampc en el
