Se ha estudiado la capacidad adsorbente de los carbones activados frente a tres tintes tipificados: azul de metileno, violeta cristal y rojo congo.  as\u00ed mismo, se ha estudiado el comportamiento frente a p-nitrofenol, producto industrial y contaminante de inter\u00e9s prioritario, frecuentemente utilizado como referente para los estudios de adsorci\u00f3n.  la memoria presenta los aspectos b\u00e1sicos f\u00edsicos y matem\u00e1ticos sobre los que descansa el tratamiento aplicado a los resultados, los cuales se han organizado bajo dos ep\u00edgrafes generales: estudio cin\u00e9tico y estudio del equilibrio.  se ha estudiado la cin\u00e9tica de adsorci\u00f3n del azul de metileno, utilizando un sistema de tanque agitado. Se variarion dosis y temperaturas de contacto. esto ha permitido, con la ayuda de las ecuaciones de ajuste para la fase l\u00edquida econtradas m\u00e1s adecuadas -entre var\u00edas ensayadas-, el c\u00e1lculo, para cada experimento, de la constante de velocidad, la energ\u00eda de activaci\u00f3n y el orden global del transporte de adsorbato hasta la superficie del s\u00f3lido.  el modelo emp\u00edrico cin\u00e9tico ha permitido tambi\u00e9n, de forma satisfactoria, la estimaci\u00f3n de los coeficientes de difusi\u00f3n interna efectiva en la part\u00edcula.  para estudiar la capacidad m\u00e1xima de adsorci\u00f3n de cada adsorbente se han obtenido las isotermas de adosorci\u00f3n. A estos resultados se les ha aplicado un conjunto de ecuaciones de ajuste. Por otra parte, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio termodin\u00e1mico conducente a la estimaci\u00f3n de la entalp\u00eda, energ\u00eda libre y entrop\u00eda asociadas a los
