El problema de la qos actualmente es un desaf\u00edo para los dise\u00f1adores, concretamente la implementaci\u00f3n eficiente del subsistema qos e igualmente superar o minimizar los problemas que presenta el empleo de circuitos s\u00edncronos.  la presente tesis tiene dos vertientes principales: los circuitos as\u00edncronos y la problem\u00e1tica de la qos para el protocolo de comunicaciones atm. La tesis se centra en la investigaci\u00f3n de una t\u00e9cnica de dise\u00f1o as\u00edncrona, lo cual implica la eliminaci\u00f3n del reloj global, y que facilite la implementaci\u00f3n de arquitecturas que eviten o al menos minimicen los problemas encontrados en los equivalentes circuitos s\u00edncronos como alineamiento de fase, sincronizaci\u00f3n, skew y jitter.  dentro de los objetivos principales de la tesis se establece una metodolog\u00eda de dise\u00f1o as\u00edncrono independiente de la tecnolog\u00eda, y como circuito demostrador se aborda la implementaci\u00f3n as\u00edncrona de la unidad de clasificaci\u00f3n que es el subsistema principal en la gesti\u00f3n qos-atm. Se utilzia el estilo de dise\u00f1o micropipeline que, adem\u00e1s de otras ventajas intr\u00ednsecas, permite un adecuado balance de la relaci\u00f3n \u00e1rea\/velocidad y facilidades para test. la arquitectura implementada en fpga permite satisfacer los requerimientos de throughput y latencia de las normas de transmisi\u00f3n oc-12 (622 mbits\/seg) y oc-48 (2.5
