La enzima hmg-coa reductasa (hmgr) cataliza la conversi\u00f3n de hmg-coa en mevalonato, una etapa limitante de flujo para la bios\u00edntesis de isoprenoides en el citosol-ret\u00edculo endoplasm\u00e1tico (re). En arabidopsis existen dos genes (hmg1 y hmg2) que codifican para tres isoformas de la enzima: hmgr1l, hmgr1s y hmgr2. Las isoformas hmgr1l y hmgr1s son id\u00e9nticas en secuencia, pero la isoforma hmgr1l contiene una extensi\u00f3n n-terminal de 50 amino\u00e1cidos (regi\u00f3n 1 lextra). m\u00faltiples estudios sugieren que distintas isoformas de hmgr estar\u00edan implicadas en la bios\u00edntesis de isoprenoides particulares, aunque no existen datos preciosos sobre el posible mecanismo que determinar\u00eda tal especializaci\u00f3n.  en este trabajo se ha utilizado la prote\u00edna fluorescente verde para analizar el papel del dominio n-terminal de las isoformas hmgr1l y hmgr1s en su localizaci\u00f3n subcelular. Se comprob\u00f3 que la presencia de la regi\u00f3n 1lestra en la isoforma hmgr1l es responsable de su localizaci\u00f3n exclusiva en el re, lo que contrasta con la distribuci\u00f3n preferencial de la isoforma hmgr1s en estructuras vesiculares de 0.5-2 um. Como resultado de un escrutinio mediante la t\u00e9cnica del doble h\u00edbrido para la b\u00fasqueda de prote\u00ednas que interaccionen con la regi\u00f3n n-terminal citos\u00f3lica de la isoforma hmgr1l, se identificaron las prote\u00ednas pr2a1, pr2a2, klc1. Pr2a1 y pr2a2 resultaron ser subunidades reguladoras b\u00bb\u00bb de la prote\u00edna fosfatasa 2a (pp2a) que interaccionan de manera selectiva con la regi\u00f3n n-terminal citos\u00f3lica de las isoformas hmgr1l y hmgr1s, pero no con la de la hmgr2. Adem\u00e1s, se observ\u00f3 que la interacci\u00f3n es modulada por calcio, lo cual sugiere que la pp2a podr\u00eda formar parte de la cascada de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n celular que permitir\u00eda ajustar la actividad hmgr a los est\u00edmulos ambientales y de desarrollo.
